When was The Last Time You Learned Some thing New ?

Posted on 22. Sep, 2010 by Mumpreneurs in Success

We always tell our children that learning is something that they have to do in order to survive and thrive.  But what have you learned lately that will enhance your life? Ongoing education is an essential ingredient to business and life success.  Sadly many of us forget we have this great ability to learn and embrace new ways of thinking.  Similar to our bodies, if we fail to exercise, push new boundaries and maintain strong flexibility our mind grows weak.

Studies indicate that one of the biggest fears facing business owners in any industry is looking incompetent. The feelings of being obsolete coupled with the fear of what others might think as they witness you grappling with a new skill, often keep people chained to their dilemma. It is important…no vital…not to allow another person’s criticism or judgement to stop you from pursuing opportunities to grow.

When you use the knowledge that you gain through your readings and experiences you strengthen both your business and your personal relationships.  And those who are not supportive of your journey, will be organically culled from your life.  While this may seem dramatic it is one of the universal truths that many of us forget.  We are the average of the five people with whom we spend the most time so ensure you surround yourself with people commmitted to their own personal development.

Inspiration for our lives both personal and professional can come from anywhere.  Some of the greatest minds in history found inspiration and new ideas purely by learning the simplest of tasks. Reading, art, debate, philosophy, and even the basic objects around us all offer inspiration to make us stronger.  Learning something new, no matter what the subject, can have immense long term affects on your positive wellbeing.

Consider this…if you’re reading a book on history or admiring a piece of art something may strike you. It might be a stray thought or a random idea that you dismiss as an unwelcome intrusion into your activity. But the idea comes back when you’re distracted, it gnaws at your thoughts when you try to sleep and it constantly makes you stop and think.

This idea may be something that can make you more money or simply a better way of working with existing systems. Whatever the idea you need to embrace it and see just how far it goes. Take flight for example, since the dawn of the industrial age we’ve tried to make machines that would give us all the ability to fly. The idea had been tried without success…but a relentless passion led some very inspirational inventors to actually make it work.

If you’ve ever seen some of the old films that depict early attempts at flying you’ve no doubt been amused by the sheer madness and insanity at some of the designs. But the idea stayed strong in the hearts and minds of inspirational people… and
you only have to look skywards on a clear day to see how far this idea has taken us.

Remember to keep learning, no matter what the subject. True genius and ingenuity finds inspiration or meaning in the simplest of places. Never give into the criticism of others and remember that knowledge is power. Next time you have an outrageous idea that seems impossible, store it away in your cerebral filing cabinet or write it down in your ideas book, but whatever you do, come back to it later…it might just make you a millionaire.

Are You Wasting Your Time?

Posted on 22. Sep, 2010 by Mumpreneurs in Success

"A man who dares waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life, " Charles Darwin

Do you know the value of life? Are you familiar with the simple objectives of time management? So many people claim to know where their time is going until it’s time to account for their day and it is getting worse as we speed up our expectations. In a fast pace world, time seems to go by without a single blink of your eye and life glares into your soul for an explanation about how you prioritise your time.

What is time management?

Time management is the ability to control your focus in order to achieve goals within a certain time frame. If you want to accomplish your goals, you have to see yourself accomplishing milestones in a sensible manner. The focus of your time frame is based on your core values and wants from life. Many people searching for happiness have taken a step back to see what matters most.

Think About Life

What do you want out of life? How do you see yourself in five years from now? Are there changes you can make today to ensure a more prosperous tomorrow? These questions run through your mind every once in a while and they deserve an answer.  Answering life-changing questions places a halt on the time wasting activities you complete now. You actually have to take a stand against people, activities, and behaviours holding you back from your goals. In most circumstances, the only person holding you back is you because of how you decide to occupy your time.

Reorganising Priorities

Valuing each minute of your day is an artful discipline that creates professional, successful, and happy people. One reason for these people’s success lies in their time management skills, communication abilities, and focus on meaningful activities. ‘Meaningful’ activities can include simple walks in a park with a best friend, finishing a favourite book, spending time with your children, or getting a promotion. A lot of successful people can reminisce about days where they let time pass them by, but they can also tell you the day when they decided to reorganize priorities for the better.  No matter what you are doing now you can change the direction of your life in order to accomplish long-term goals effectively.

Appreciate Time’s Value

Planning today can help you enjoy a better tomorrow. Planning also relieves the stress of figuring our your next steps unexpectedly. If you have a desire to accomplish your goals, you will find a way to gravitate towards activities to help you. Just imagine what you can do after a few changes in your schedule, attitude, and desire for success. You will begin to focus on each minute of your day as a moment of opportunity and reach higher expectations of your own with discipline.

Wake up tomorrow with a new attitude. Look over your tasks and to-do lists then make adjustments to do something incredible. Jot down a few things you would like to accomplish within the next 30 days then work on each of them one at a time. Plan to be successful and focus on your goals so your true value of life shines for all to see.

Authenticity Is The Foundation For Success

Posted on 22. Sep, 2010 by Mumpreneurs in Success

Authenticity comes to mind when it relates to style, art or other visual attractions about your personality.  In business, authenticity is an art and personal style that engages customers to use your services. Stepping into your authenticity can be an exhausting feat as you battle to overcome sales techniques in today’s business environment. Creating an authentic business relationship means examining your benefits, adding personality and showcasing your reputation all of which speak volumes to prospective customers.

Everyone wants to receive great benefits for their commitment or loyalty to your business. If you can instil authenticity into each relationship, you are setting strong foundations for others in your organization to achieve success. In today’s article, you are going to learn three important tips that can change the world’s view of your organization in no time.

Examine Your Benefits

What do you offer in your sales techniques? Do you provide information? Are you helpful to your client’s needs? Do you listen to their every concern? Some of these benefits are overlooked when presenting yourself to prospective clients.  Many are sceptical of sales professionals because of the stigma associated with telemarketers or anyone offering services. You can take a different route in obtaining customers by building relationships first.

Customers must know who you are, like you personally, and will buy from you professionally. This simple equation is proof of authentic compassion and concern for your customer’s needs. If you want to reach their hearts in the beginning, you have to trend away from aggressive sales and inject your personality into your career. Customers will love your ability to maximize your services by steering towards their needs. If you can understand how important your personality is in this equation, you can add a bit more to create a successful career.

Add Personality

Personal touches must be sincere or customers will not trust you. Your approach to their needs is also an incredible opportunity to adjust to their concerns. Factoring in your personality softens the rigidness of new business relationships. Your prospects want to deal with a person not a company (generally speaking).  According to major business associations, a business relationship without personality is one destined for failure. Authenticity keeps customers refreshed, comfortable, and open to any ideas you would like to exchange with them. This way you can control the outcome through consistent communication, stellar trust, and an impeccable reputation built from authenticity.

Make Your Reputation Speak

Change the way your clients view your business. A strong reputation speaks for you when you introduce yourself to prospective clients. It also encourages a moment of their time to learn more about your services or what you can provide to make their business profitable. One important factor to consider is consistency. If you are not consistent in your relationship building process, it will create a sense of uncertainty, which can harm your reputation. The best way to make the best out of your career is to focus on how to be the best in providing services.

Tell Me Who’s Your Friend…I’ll Tell You Who You Are

Posted on 22. Sep, 2010 by Mumpreneurs in Success

Your personal and business success hinges on the people with whom you share your time.  With the right support you’ll be energised, encouraged and empowered…your business will thrive.  Without it…your business will barely survive.

To be successful, you must surround yourself with successful people, and that includes friends and family.  So as you gear up for the festive season, it’s important to consider how much influence your best friend, partner, sister, mother or personal trainer has on the success of your business.

It’s recognised that we are the average of the five people with whom we spend the most time.

I’ll explain this further by way of 3 phenomena.

The Magnet Effect

We are magnets drawing together like-minded people.  And the people you attract have a huge effect on the beliefs and ideas that you have about yourself.

When you are confident about your success, vision and life purpose, you attract those people who radiate similar beliefs.  These people then become a powerful force that will propel you forward.

Conversely, if you spend time with negative victims who gossip about others…this paints a picture of who You are.

Ask yourself, who am I drawing into my life?  They could be people you know or people you hire, your coach, your mentor, your strategist, your outsource professionals.  Am I moving towards the people who are where I want to be?

The Butterfly Effect

The Butterfly Effect is a scientific phenomena coined by Edward Lorenz. The concept explains that a butterfly, flapping its wings in South America can affect the weather in Central Park. The actual definition is:

"A small variation of an initial condition may produce a large variation, in the longer term of a system."

While you cannot change another’s behaviour, you can change yours.

So when you do something small, for example, when you decide that you’re too busy to listen to time wasting jokes and you ask everybody to, "Please stop sending them to me."  You’re taking charge of your life.  You’re telling the world that your time is important.  And you’re asking others to respect your time.  You are making a small, but powerful decision that changes your life.

And with those changes unsupportive people and things are organically culled.

The Mozart Effect

The Mozart Effect is a phenomena described by French researcher Alfred Tomatis which states that listening to certain types of music; in particular, Mozart, brings about healing and developmental properties.

The transformational powers of music affect your health, education and well-being. Subliminally your life is affected by the music you listen to AND the people you listen to.  You need to ask…is this the music I want to hear?  Is it supporting my well-being and transforming my life?

The people that you draw into your life, the small actions you take and the music that you listen to have a HUGE affect on your physical and mental well-being as well as the well-being of your business.

So I ask…with whom will you choose to share your time this Festive Season?

Building Trust and Connection Through Communication

Posted on 22. Sep, 2010 by Mumpreneurs in Success

Irrespective of what business you’re in communication is KEY.

If you want people to visit your website, shop, office, practice or restaurant more than once then you need to remind them that you exist.  By sharing the latest news and updates you strengthen your relationship with them. One of the best ways to do this is to collect email addresses and use them to create an online mailing list.

Here are 3 Simple Steps to Setting Up Your Mailing List…

1.    Collecting Email Addresses

This is easier than you might think.   People are used to giving their email address in exchange for valuable information.

One way of doing this is to include an opt-in box on your website which gives your visitors the option to sign up to your newsletter.  If you have a bricks and mortar business then direct people to your site and invite them to sign up.  It is often better to make mailing list sign-up voluntary, as this means you will build a list of only the most enthusiastic people.

2.    What to Write in Your Mailing List Emails

If you want people to read your emails then avoid corporate speak.  You need to provide information and updates that are useful and relevant to the person who’s going to be opening that email.  If you don’t share information that’s useful to real people then your email will head straight into their junk mail.

You should take some time over your emails. Make them something that the recipients will want to keep and refer to more than once – often-updated, time-sensitive information is best, if you have access to it.

If you have a promotion, you should work in a link.  But be subtle about it – a good way of doing this is to include a tip or two with potential uses for your product or service.  This sparks the reader’s curiosity enough to click through and learn more.

3.    The Technical Side

Once you’ve got a mailing list and you’ve written the first email, the next step is to set up the technical side of things.   To get started you can use Outlook.  However there are generally number restrictions and as there are no unsubscribe options, there is a risk of getting blacklisted as a Spammer.  Remember to make sure that you use the Bcc (blind carbon copy) field for the addresses, to avoid sending out a copy of the mailing list to everyone on it.

A more cost and time effective option is a web-based solution.  This avoids you having to install any programs or send information from your email program.   If you can find a reasonably-priced one, then they’re often the ideal solution, allowing you to manage your lists directly and send out emails easily.  I use Aweber and have found it to be the most user-friendly and reliable system.

Ok, you’re all set.  By following these 3 steps you can build your list and start nurture a long-term relationship with your clients.
